Integrierte zonenbasierte Firewall-Richtlinie
Die im IR7000 integrierte Firewall bietet intuitive Richtlinien für Router mit mehreren Schnittstellen, um die internen Netzwerke vor unberechtigtem Zugriff zu schützen vor Benutzern eines externen Netzwerk. Die Firewall schützt außerdem die internen Netzwerke voreinander, indem zum Beispiel ein Personalnetzwerk von einem Benutzernetzwerk getrennt wird. Wenn bestimmte Netzwerkressourcen für einen externen Benutzer verfügbar sein müssen, zum Beispiel ein Web- oder FTP-Server, können diese Ressourcen in ein eigenes von der Firewall geschütztes Netzwerk in einer entmilitarisierten Zone (DMZ) verschoben werden. Die Firewall erlaubt begrenzten Zugang zur DMZ, doch da die DMZ ausschließlich öffentliche Server beinhaltet, haben Angriffe keine Konsequenzen für das interne Netzwerk. Die Firewall kontrolliert interne Nutzer, wenn sie auf externe Netzwerke zugreifen (zum Beispiel Zugriff auf das Internet), indem nur bestimmte Adressen aufgerufen werden können oder durch Abfrage einer Authentifizierung oder Autorisierung oder durch Koordination mit einem externen URL-Filterserver. Eine „Alles blockieren“-Richtlinie (Blacklist) kann eingesetzt werden, um Verkehr zwischen den Sicherheitszonen der Firewall zu verbieten, bis eine eigene Richtlinie für zulässigen Verkehr erstellt wird. Die Ports des Router sind Zonen zugewiesen und die Inspektionsrichtlinie der Firewall gilt für sämtlichen Verkehr zwischen den Zonen. Die Firewall-Richtlinien für den Verkehr zwischen Zonen bieten große Flexibilität und Granularität, sodass verschiedene Inspektionsrichtlinien der Firewall auf denselben Port des Router angewendet werden können.
